How to be Bikini Body Confident With Beach Bums and Feels
Bikini Body Confidence
With thousands of people in quarantine in Australia, there is no better opportunity to begin your journey of self-growth and development. Instead of watching coronavirus-related videos on YouTube all day, why not learn some new skills, spend quality time with your family, or even build your self-confidence?
Here at Beach Bums and Feels, we want to put a positive spin on the pandemic by helping you to build your bikini body confidence!
What is a Bikini Body?
The media will have us believe that bikini bodies are slim, with curvy bums and boobs, and a thigh gap...it’s no wonder why many of us lack confidence! However, the perception is often that only larger women struggle with their body image and this is simply not true. Even those of us who are a size 8 can suffer from body confidence issues, such as skin conditions, skin tone, bikini line smoothness, body shape, and so on.
Despite this, the truth is that everybody is a bikini body. No matter what our insecurities are, everyone can look good in swimwear as long as we feel good. Don’t believe us? Well, we’ll help you achieve that body confidence you so desire! Read on to find out more.
How Can I Get a Bikini Body Fast?
We’re not going to tell you to start intensive fitness training or to go on a diet here. Instead, we want you to reassess the way you think about your body and to incorporate a few healthy habits into your lifestyle. Unfortunately, there’s no way any of us can rush this - changing our confidence levels can take time.
Luckily, most of us have got time (thanks to the quarantine)! Here are a few of our tips for developing bikini body confidence during the coronavirus lockdown:
Body Confidence: How to Feel Confident in a Bikini
Find the Perfect Swimwear
Wearing a bikini can demonstrate strength and confidence, but you can still feel empowered in swimwear that is less revealing. Finding something that is right for your body shape is important, whether that’s a bikini or a one-piece, a halterneck or full-coverage. What’s more, choosing a colour to match your character can help you to feel more assured and fearless.

Surround Yourself With a Supportive Body Confidence Tribe
A body confidence tribe is a group of kind and caring people who support, inspire, and motivate each other. Surrounding yourself with those kinds of people will make you feel more valued and confident. It’s hard enough having to listen to your own inner criticisms than having to listen to the judgement of others as well! And ain’t nobody got time for “friends” that put us down!
Wear Sustainable and Ethical Swimwear
What better way to feel confident in a bikini than by wearing sustainable and ethical swimwear? At Beach Bums and Feels, we have designed our swimwear to make you feel sexy inside and out!
Our sustainable bikinis and one-pieces are made from Econyl, which is a fabric made from recycled nylon. Ghost fishing nets, carpets, and other industrialised plastic waste are all recovered from landfill and our beloved oceans to be regenerated and reimagined into beautiful and stylish swimwear. That means you can wear your swimwear in the knowledge that you are contributing to the conservation of our planet.
Swap Body-Shaming for Affirmations
We all have inner critics - how many times have you found yourself thinking along the lines of “I wish my arms were more toned” or “Ugh, my nose is so big”? Next time you find yourself body shaming, try changing your language.
In other words, when you find yourself insulting your body, replace it with some affirmative thoughts. For example, instead of saying “My stomach looks bloated today”, you could say “It's amazing how my stomach is able to digest food and provide me with so many great nutrients”. Alternatively, something as simple as “I love my stomach” will also do the trick!
The more you do this, the easier it will get to replace negative thoughts and the more bikini body confident you will become. Just remember, you are amazing!
Exercise Because it Makes You Feel Good
Exercising should never be about aesthetics! Believe it or not, leanness and a six-pack do not always equate to good health - everyone has different body shapes and physiques. Besides, working out should empower you rather than slot you into a beauty ideal.
As a wise woman once told me, weight loss and other aesthetic factors can be a great initiator of a fitness journey, but they often fail to motivate us in the long-term and often lead to further body negativity. Therefore, finding other motivating factors, such as those that relate to capability (being able to perform a handstand, progressing to black belt jiu-jitsu, perfecting that dance move, etc.) are much more successful and healthy reasons to exercise and can do wonders to help us appreciate our bodies more.
Eat a Balanced Diet
There are so many fad diets out there that make us feel guilty about eating carbs or fatty foods. But everyone should be allowed to indulge without feeling guilty - it’s good for our mental health! Plus, there’s no need to cut out food groups to lose weight. In fact, carbs and fat are important macronutrients that our bodies NEED to survive!
Instead of juicing or only eating sugar-free foods, we should be eating a balanced diet - and not to lose a few ounces, but to keep us healthy and feeling positive! Healthy eating can lead to less depression, a healthier gut, and is strongly linked to a more positive mood.
The Perfect Beach Body
The perfect beach or bikini body is one that you feel comfortable and confident in! Body acceptance comes from the inside and, once you start believing it and practising what you preach, that’s when your world will change. Why not start now - what do you love about your body?
Stay healthy and positive :)
